Description
This Sources Sought/RFI seeks information on commercially available or prototype devices that can perform cell salvage, blood conditioning, and autonomous blood return with user-selectable flow-rate control in austere and expeditionary medical environments. The intended capability would repurpose blood lost during hemorrhage without donor blood or blood components and support far-forward transfusion, patient stabilization, and bridging the time to surgery. The requested system should address 23 essential characteristics and five preferences, including portability, ruggedization, operation by a single user, battery-powered runtime, collection and return rates of up to 1,500 mL per minute, gas exchange, integrated heating to prevent hypothermia, emboli detection and clearance, low hemolysis, rapid setup and consumable replacement, shelf-stable sterile packaging, and compliance with applicable FDA and MIL-STD-810G considerations. Respondents are asked to complete the attached Word and Excel response forms, identify unmet requirements and trade-offs, and provide company, product, customer-reference, support, and sustainment information.
