Description
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is soliciting qualifications from design-build teams for a replacement photovoltaic array at the Frank Porter Graham Student Union. The existing 20 kW array will be removed under a separate roofing project; the replacement array will be installed on the new modified-bitumen roof and sized as large as the $440,000 project budget permits. The project may include battery storage, electric-vehicle charging infrastructure, future PV expansion provisions, a commercial generation-monitoring kiosk, and a data acquisition system compatible with the University's existing solar system. The turnkey scope includes design and construction, evaluation and upgrades of existing structural and electrical systems, coordination with Duke Energy and the University's 12.47 kV electric distribution system, interconnection and witness-testing support, roof-warranty coordination, service-access walking mats, cost estimates, schedules, phasing plans, renderings, and compliance with North Carolina building codes and State Construction Office review. Submittals must use the SF-330 format and address firm and personnel qualifications, comparable and design-build experience, cost and schedule performance, workload, project-delivery approach, bonding capacity, small-business outreach, and qualifications-based selection. One electronic PDF is required; proposals are due by 3:00 PM on November 3, 2026.
