The Quinault Indian Nation is requesting proposals for a contract gardener to assist the Lead Gardener and Food Educator with cultivation, garden maintenance, planting, harvesting, and distribution of fresh produce for the Taholah gardens. The contractor must also support gardening education through hands-on workshops, groups, and individual settings; provide produce handout services including kitchen cleanup; and have experience managing small livestock. The work requires availability for up to 32 hours per week, with flexible hours and some weekends, from November 2, 2026, through September 29, 2027. The contractor must be capable of heavy physical labor, including lifting more than 50 pounds and working outdoors during inclement weather, and must demonstrate knowledge of plant life cycles, integrated pest management, and organic and sustainable gardening practices. Proposals must include the contractor's business information, qualifications and experience, similar projects, tribal experience, proposed work plan and schedule, references or past performance, and pricing. A Washington State food worker card, valid driver's license, and general liability insurance are required. Qualified Indian-owned firms receive preference under the Nation's Indian Preference Policy, and Indian contractors must provide Tribal Employment Rights Office certification to receive that preference.
