Description
The U.S. Navy is soliciting sealed bids for the purchase and removal of approximately 37,780 trees, estimated at 2,433,500 board feet, from approximately 357 acres at Naval Weapons Station Crane. The work includes harvesting sawtimber and pulpwood, loading and removing the timber, furnishing all labor, materials, and equipment, repairing logging roads and skid trails, disposing of slash, and restoring affected areas. The sale is structured as a firm-fixed-price lump-sum or per-unit sale, awarded on an all-or-none basis to the responsible highest bidder. Bidders must submit Standard Form 114 and bid security equal to 20% of the bid price in the form of a bid bond or qualifying cashier's/certified check. The successful purchaser must provide a 25% performance bond or acceptable irrevocable letter of credit after award, maintain specified insurance, and comply with extensive installation-access, environmental, safety, logging, and Indiana logging-certification requirements. The contract term is five months from award, with specified harvesting restrictions related to Indiana bat habitat.
