Description
The Department of War Joint Services—including the Navy, Marine Corps, Army, Air Force, Special Operations Command, and Air Force Special Operations Command—are seeking a new source for an expendable pyrophoric countermeasure capability. The countermeasures may be used independently or with onboard and offboard aircraft countermeasure systems. The capability is intended to protect U.S. aircraft from surface-to-air and air-to-air infrared missile threats by confusing missile seekers and their counter-countermeasure logic, causing the threat missile to decoy away from the aircraft. The notice identifies active pyrophoric countermeasures including M211, MJU-49/B, MJU-64/B, MJU-66/B, XM219, MJU-50A/B, MJU-51A/B, and MJU-52A/B. This is a special notice seeking a new supplier and development capability; no quantities, pricing, contract structure, submission instructions, or attachments are provided.
