Description
The City of Worcester is soliciting a general contractor to remove the existing Burnham V11-14 cast-iron hot-water boiler, forced-draft burner, obsolete controls, vent connector, and associated piping, then furnish and install a new boiler of equal capacity and performance. The work includes a compatible burner, boiler trim, safety and operating controls, gauges, relief valve, control panel, electrical reconnection, combustion air, venting or breeching modifications, piping replacement within five feet of the boiler as required, insulation, labeling, and reconnection to the existing Alerton building automation system. The contractor must provide demolition, installation, startup by the manufacturer's authorized representative, combustion adjustment and analysis, hydrostatic and operational testing, safety verification, owner training of at least four hours, operation and maintenance manuals, startup and combustion reports, warranty documents, and as-built drawings. The estimated cost is $95,000. The project must be completed and all equipment placed in service no later than October 16, 2026. Massachusetts prevailing-wage requirements, certified weekly payroll reporting, minority- and women-owned business participation efforts, worker-utilization requirements, and construction safety obligations apply.
