Description
The Department of the Interior is seeking to identify and assess potential undocumented underground storage tanks (USTs) at the Yukon Flats National Wildlife Refuge in Beaver, Alaska. This project will utilize ground penetrating radar (GPR) to detect the presence of USTs. If a tank is confirmed, further soil and groundwater testing will be conducted to determine if Diesel Range Organics (DRO) contamination is present. The work involves a phased approach. The initial phase includes a GPR/EM survey to locate any suspected USTs. If a UST is confirmed, subsequent phases will involve borescope evaluation, soil and groundwater sampling and analysis for DRO and other contaminants, coordination with the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC), and reporting. The contractor must demonstrate experience with GPR/EM surveys, contaminated site investigations, and compliance with ADEC regulations. The project is located in a remote area of Alaska, requiring contractors to manage all logistics for transportation of personnel, supplies, and equipment.
