Description
This opportunity concerns the Buffalo River Dene Nation Solid Waste Remediation project, focused on the cleanup and closure of several solid waste dump sites located on BRDN reserve lands. These sites include the active landfill, former landfills, a decommissioned lagoon cell, and a former sawmill site, all generally surrounded by boreal forest. The project involves removing surficial and buried waste, separating recyclables, and hauling waste to the active landfill. Additional cover material will be added to one site to manage infiltration and runoff. Access to waste accumulation areas will be blocked or removed, and sites with buried waste will be legally surveyed and identified on land use plans. Controls will be implemented to prevent the burning of household waste at the active landfill.
