The City and Borough of Juneau is soliciting bids for the "3rd Street & Harris Street Stairs, Boardwalk, & Utilities Upgrade" project. This project involves the demolition and replacement of existing timber stairways and boardwalks, along with the upgrade of water and sanitary sewer lines. Specific work includes: For the 3rd Street stairs: Demolition of approximately 130 feet of existing timber stairways, landings, and footings. Construction of new wooden stairways and landings, reusing usable existing components. Replacement of approximately 130 feet of existing sewer main with 6-inch insulated PVC (Arctic Pipe) and replacement of existing waterlines with 3-inch HDPE (Arctic Pipe) water main. Installation of a rock-lined drainage swale to manage hillside runoff. For the Harris Street boardwalk: Demolition and removal of approximately 130 feet of existing timber stairways, landings, and footings. Construction of new timber stairways, landings, and footings, reusing usable existing components. Replacement of approximately 130 feet of existing water main with 2-inch HDPE (Arctic Pipe) service line. The project also includes coordination with AEL&P for the relocation or replacement of power poles along Harris Street. The work is scheduled to commence on June 17, 2026, and must be completed by December 31, 2026, or within 150 days of the Notice to Proceed, whichever comes first.
