Central Arizona Governments (CAG) is conducting a free lead-based paint assessment and remediation project for qualifying pre-1978 residences, schools, and public buildings in Gila County (Globe, Hayden, Miami, Payson, Star Valley, Winkelman), Pinal County (Apache Junction, Casa Grande, Coolidge, Eloy, Florence, Kearny, Mammoth, Marana, Maricopa, Queen Creek, Superior), and tribal communities (Ak-Chin Indian Community, Gila River Indian Community, San Carlos Apache Tribe, White Mountain Apache Tribe). The project is funded through an EPA enforcement action settlement under the Clean Air Act. Participation is voluntary, with priority given to homes with children. Services include lead-based paint inspection and removal at no cost to the property owner.
