Description
The Norfolk Naval Shipyard requires the procurement and installation of an engineered fire suppression system within the diesel generator rooms of three 60T portal cranes. The system must comply with NFPA standards, including NFPA 12, NFPA 72, and NFPA 2001. The work involves installation in the crane machine houses, approximately 75 feet above the crane rails, accessed via fixed ladders. The system aims to reduce fire risk, protect personnel and assets, and minimize operational downtime. The contractor will be responsible for providing all necessary PPE, adhering to shipyard safety and badging requirements (DBIDS), and ensuring compliance with fall protection and spill contingency plans. The system must include automatically actuated audible alarms, a manual actuation station, and a 20-30 second pre-discharge warning alarm before agent release. A one-year warranty on parts and workmanship is required.
