Description
The City of Newport is soliciting sealed bids from qualified design-build contractors to provide complete design, engineering, fabrication, and construction of an approximately 62-by-85-foot open-sided steel-frame market pavilion. The scope includes structural engineering and permitting, foundations, steel framing, exposed trusses and knee braces, a standing-seam metal roof with gutters, downspouts, and snow guards, subgrade fill and grading within the pavilion footprint, and related design and construction administration. A fixed $50,000 foundation contingency allowance must be included in the base bid. The pavilion must satisfy specified roof geometry, clear-height, structural, coating, roof-system, and future-work coordination requirements. Supply-only bids are not acceptable. Restroom and storage buildings, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, concrete flatwork, paving, landscaping, and other listed exclusions are outside the contract. Bidders must identify the design and construction team, provide three comparable steel-structure projects completed within the last seven years with references, submit qualifications, a design approach, a proposed schedule, required bidder forms, bid security, and a sealed bid. The successful bidder must provide performance and payment bonds, each equal to 100 percent of the contract price.
