Description
North Carolina Emergency Management seeks a Secretary of the Interior-qualified archaeologist to provide archaeological monitoring and Phase I archaeological surveying on an as-needed basis for hazard mitigation projects. Services include monitoring ground-disturbing and demolition activities, preparing proposed shovel-test maps, obtaining rights of entry with the applicable county and state agency, conducting surveys under North Carolina Office of State Archaeology standards, and providing biweekly status updates. The contractor must coordinate with FEMA Region 4 Environmental Planning and Historic Preservation, NCEM, project subrecipients, SHPO, and consulting tribes; implement stop-work and notification procedures if artifacts, intact deposits, or human remains are discovered; and prepare draft and final reports, GIS shapefiles, artifact-processing and curation deliverables, and related Section 106 documentation. The contract is for a three-year initial term beginning upon final execution, with no guaranteed minimum or maximum quantity. Pricing is requested as daily rates for archaeological monitoring and archaeological surveying, with surveying rates including travel expenses.
