Description
The State of Maine Department of Public Safety is accepting applications under the Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program to enhance law-enforcement efforts to safely secure, store, track, and return firearms relinquished to law enforcement. Eligible applicants are law-enforcement agencies and local governments, including cities, counties, townships, towns, and certain federally recognized American Indian tribes. Allowable projects include upgrading storage facilities, purchasing software or other technologies to track relinquished firearms, and purchasing gun locks or other safety devices. Applicants must provide necessary quotes, submit paid invoices for reimbursement, complete required reporting, and comply with applicable program restrictions, including accessibility requirements for information-technology products. Multiple awards are anticipated from total available funding of $743,239, with applications evaluated on qualifications and experience, proposed project, and budget.
