Description
The Maine Department of Transportation is soliciting bids for the replacement of two existing twin corrugated metal pipe culverts with precast concrete box culverts on Forest Avenue in Orono, Maine. The project includes two box culvert replacements: an 8-foot span by 6-foot rise by 72-foot-long culvert at approximately 0.05 mile west of Essex Street, and a 12-foot span by 6-foot rise by 74-foot-long culvert at approximately 0.12 mile west of Essex Street. Work items include common excavation, granular borrow, special fill, culvert bedding stone, structural earth excavation, aggregate subbase, hot mix asphalt (12.5 mm polymer modified), waterproofing membrane, cofferdams, precast concrete box culverts (state supplied), underdrain, mailbox removal, concrete curb, riprap, streambed rock features, loam, seeding, mulch, geotextiles, pavement markings, traffic control, flaggers, mobilization, and erosion control. The roadway will be closed during construction with traffic detoured onto state and local roads.
