The North Carolina Department of Information Technology is soliciting a single-prime construction contractor to remove and replace three valve-regulated lead-acid UPS battery strings supporting three 825 kVA UPS systems in existing battery racks. Each string contains 240 individual batteries. The work includes furnishing labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, installation, electrical work, battery identification, and compliant battery disposal. Each battery string must be fully replaced, tested, commissioned, and returned to operation within a single weekend, with only one UPS affected per weekend effort. The contractor must perform battery and charger testing, load testing, alarm and monitoring verification, emergency-duration testing, and required fire and thermal-runaway testing. A five percent bid bond is required, and performance and payment bonds are required at 100 percent of the contract price. The project has a 10 percent minority-business participation goal and requires the applicable minority-business forms with the bid.
