Fire Protection District Grants
Boulder County
Description
Boulder County’s Emergency Services Sales and Use Tax Grant Program provides one-time grants to fire districts and departments that provide emergency services in the county’s rural and mountain areas. Eligible projects include equipment and capital purchases or upgrades, specialized emergency-personnel training, operational enhancements, and infrastructure improvements supporting emergency services. Agencies serving areas outside the county must identify how grant funds will be used specifically within Boulder County. Only one application may be submitted per agency, with multiple requested items or projects listed in priority order. Cooperative and cross-organization proposals are encouraged. Matching funds are not required, although any matching requirements or available matching funds should be noted. Applicants must describe how their proposal reflects equity and inclusion and benefits community members. Grants are one-time awards, may be fully or partially funded, do not require repayment, and must be supported by receipts within one year of funding. Boulder County anticipates approximately $2 million will be available for the fall 2026 grant round; individual requests have no stated limit.
