Description
Douglas Unified School District requires a limited asbestos survey and potential abatement at Faras Elementary School, located at 401 West Fir Avenue in Pirtleville, Arizona. The scope includes inspection of the low-sloped roof systems at the South and North Annex Buildings, which are to be removed and replaced, and weatherization of both building shells with new sealants and coatings. A total of 33 bulk samples were collected from suspect building materials, with laboratory analysis revealing asbestos-containing building sealant (7% Chrysotile) at both annexes. The estimated quantity of affected material is less than 160 square feet. Recommendations include removal of asbestos-containing material by a qualified abatement contractor, with oversight by an independent asbestos consulting firm.
