Description
The University of British Columbia is soliciting mechanical and electrical subcontractor services to convert the Earth Sciences Building from three gas-fired boilers to the UBC Academic District Energy System through a new Energy Transfer Station. The work includes connecting existing district energy piping, installing three plate heat exchangers, three variable-frequency-drive circulating pumps, control valves and accessories, demolishing the existing boilers and boiler pumps, and completing associated controls and electrical work. Existing headers, expansion tanks, chemical treatment, and flow meters will remain in service. The five-storey academic teaching and research building will remain occupied and operational during construction, and heat must be maintained continuously. Substantial Completion is scheduled for March 19, 2027, with full project completion required by March 31, 2027.
