Description
The Washington State Department of Transportation is soliciting construction services for the permanent repair of the SR 544 Nooksack River overflow. The work includes relocating buried utilities; removing the existing 135-foot arch culvert No. 544/9C; constructing a new bridge south of the existing Nooksack River Bridge No. 544/10; partially replacing the existing bridge’s south approach slab, adjacent sidewalk, and traffic barrier; and installing a roadway bypass. Additional work includes installing new utilities and drainage, constructing scour countermeasures, restoring the area with landscaping, providing traffic control, and performing related work. The project includes 145 bid items and 300 working days, is classified as bridges and structures, and has an estimated value of $14,000,000 to $15,000,000. The contract is federally funded and includes an 18% federal small business enterprise goal.
