Description
The California Highway Patrol is soliciting bids for as-needed farrier services for six draft horses assigned to its Capitol Protection Section Mounted Patrol Unit. Services include hoof trimming, fitting and installation of steel shoes, borium application, pads, Equithotic Sneakers, Remuda rubber shoes, therapeutic shoeing, resetting shoes, replacing lost shoes, and other hoof-related services. The contractor must provide all labor, transportation, tools, equipment, and supplies; respond to emergency requests within one hour; and perform non-emergency requests within seven calendar days. Bidders must be certified by the American Farriers Association and meet specified experience requirements, including experience with draft horses, police draft horses, and Equithotic Sneakers. The agreement is anticipated to run from March 1, 2027, or upon approval, whichever is later, through June 30, 2028, with a budgetary limit of $120,000. The award will be made to the responsive and responsible bidder offering the lowest bid. The DVBE participation requirement is waived, although eligible DVBE participation may receive an incentive.
