Description

Sacramento County is soliciting sealed bids for construction of the Hazel Avenue at U.S. 50 Interchange Improvement Project – Segment 1, Contract No. 4703. The work includes widening the Hazel Avenue overcrossing, modifying westbound U.S. 50 on- and off-ramps to incorporate a shared-use path, improving multimodal connectivity, constructing a retaining wall, and widening U.S. 50 to add an eastbound auxiliary lane. The scope also includes bridge demolition and construction, driven steel piles and cast-in-drilled-hole concrete piles, ground-anchor retaining wall construction, roadway excavation and paving, drainage, erosion control, traffic striping, signs, barriers, railings, landscaping and irrigation, traffic control, ramp metering, lighting, signal and fiber-optic system modifications, and related work. The contractor must furnish all necessary labor, materials, equipment, and incidental work in accordance with the specifications, permits, and applicable regulations; stated quantities are approximate and may vary at the County’s discretion. The estimated construction cost is $28,500,000, a California Class A General Engineering Contractor license is required, and the contract duration is 360 working days. Bidders must provide a bid guarantee of at least 10 percent of the aggregate bid; the successful bidder must provide 100 percent payment and performance bonds. The project is subject to prevailing-wage, Buy America, aerially deposited lead, and other environmental and traffic-control requirements.
