Description
The North Carolina Department of Transportation is soliciting bids for a one-time purchase of 185 galvanized steel beams: 15 W12x65x25 beams, 60 W12x65x30 beams, 60 W12x96x35 beams, and 50 W12x96x40 beams. The beams must be delivered fully assembled and ready for use, meet the applicable North Carolina highway specifications and AASHTO M270 Grade 50 requirements, and satisfy the specified Charpy V-Notch toughness requirements for Zone 1. ASTM A-572/A-992 and, under stated conditions, ASTM A-709 Grade 50 materials are permitted. The steel must be cleaned, hot-dip galvanized, and shop coated by approved facilities, with required shop inspection. Bidders must identify the approved structural-steel or steel-mill producer/supplier and galvanizer used. Pricing must include delivery and all related charges, and the successful vendor must provide the manufacturer's standard warranty upon request. The award is generally intended for the lowest responsive price meeting the specifications, although separate awards by line item are permitted.
