Description
The State of California is conducting a Request for Information to gather market information, identify manufacturers and suppliers, and assess the availability of enforcement vehicles suitable for police-pursuit use. The anticipated statewide contract scope includes sedans, mid-size utilities, mid-size hybrid utilities, full-size utilities, and pickup trucks for the California Highway Patrol and other law enforcement agencies. Preliminary requirements include new, current-production vehicles configured or modified for police applications; high-speed pursuit performance; braking, handling, acceleration, and top-speed testing; radio-frequency interference suppression; emergency-vehicle equipment compatibility; police-package components; ballistic door panels for specified vehicle classes; and standard and extended warranty information. Respondents must complete the RFI form covering vendor information, vehicle availability, testing and specification requirements, warranty information, and feedback. Any resulting competitive contract is anticipated to have a two-year base term with three one-year extension options and an estimated value of $31 million per year.
