Description
The Kent County Road Commission, in coordination with the Michigan Department of Transportation, is soliciting bids for as-needed removal of live, dead, damaged, and fallen trees in road rights-of-way on primary roads, local roads, and state trunklines throughout Kent County. The scope includes furnishing labor, equipment, tools, materials, traffic controls, tree cutting, chipping, wood and debris disposal, stump grinding, placement of black dirt and grass seed, and related cleanup. Trees 9 inches in diameter or larger must be cut into 8-foot lengths, while smaller trees are to be chipped; approximately 30–40% of stumps are expected to require grinding. Bidders must provide per-tree and stump-grinding pricing by diameter and county area, half-hour tree-trimming rates for northern and southern Kent County, equipment information, employee availability, subcontractor information, and three references for tree-removal contracts performed in 2025 or 2026. The initial contract term runs from October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027, with two optional one-year renewals. Addendum #1 added lane and shoulder closure diagrams to the bid package.
