Description
Kent County is soliciting attorneys for its 17th Circuit Court Family Division appointment list to represent indigent parties in delinquency, child protective, paternity, parental waiver, appellate, unaccompanied-minor, and related family cases. Responding attorneys must identify the individual attorney to be assigned, specify preferred case types, explain coverage during illness or absence, and provide a resume, current professional liability insurance proof, and documentation of eight hours of continuing legal education for existing attorneys. Attorneys may be appointed to represent parents or children, including as lawyer-guardian ad litem, and must comply with applicable Michigan court requirements, electronic payment and document-delivery requirements, court training, and case-contact documentation procedures. The contract period is October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027. Professional liability insurance of at least $100,000 per individual and $300,000 per occurrence is required for attorneys placed on the appointment list.
