Description
The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is soliciting a general contractor for HVAC upgrades at Allen & Oakwood Correctional Institution and Oakwood Correctional Facility in Lima, Ohio. The base bid includes replacing five rooftop air handling units in the south, east, and west wings, reconnecting gas service, installing new gas water heaters and associated pumps, decommissioning existing hot-water boilers, and providing air balancing and commissioning. The project also includes replacement of pneumatic controls with electric/electronic controls for rooftop units, VAV boxes, and combination fire/smoke dampers. Alternates include replacing RTU-N and 71 associated VAV units with electric/electronic controls, installing two mini-split systems at Allen Correctional Institution, and cleaning existing supply and return ductwork associated with six rooftop units. The estimated base contract cost is $2,254,000, with additional published estimates for three alternates. The project requires prevailing-wage compliance, domestic steel use, and a 5 percent EDGE participation goal. The contract time is 270 consecutive days from the Notice to Proceed.
