Description
The Federal Aviation Administration requires a contractor to replace an existing air-cooled chiller and associated equipment at the Hector International Airport Air Traffic Control Tower in Fargo, North Dakota. The scope includes furnishing labor, equipment, materials, permits, and services; removing and installing the chiller; replacing chilled-water pumps, an expansion tank, an air separator, and a glycol feeder; integrating the new equipment with the existing Distech Controls Niagara BACnet-based Direct Digital Control system; providing temporary cooling; testing and balancing all cold-water systems connected to the chiller piping; startup; and training facility personnel. The contractor must conduct an asbestos survey, replace and properly treat the existing water/glycol mixture, maintain 72 degrees Fahrenheit in occupied and critical spaces during construction, maintain relative humidity between 30% and 50% in critical spaces, and provide a superintendent or delegated superintendent on site at all times. Crane use requires FAA Form 7460-1 airspace approval. The project is subject to Davis-Bacon wage requirements. The contract is a firm-fixed-price, lump-sum award with a 150-calendar-day performance period after notice to proceed, and the estimated magnitude is $850,000 to $950,000.
