Lidgerwood Public School is applying for ESSER III (Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund III) grant funds to address the impact of COVID-19. The funds will be used for prevention and mitigation strategies such as improving indoor air quality (HVAC upgrades in the music room, cleaning duct work, and purchasing custodial supplies), and following isolation and quarantine guidelines. To address learning loss, the district will implement evidence-based interventions including a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) in reading and math using screeners like Star Renaissance, ExactPath, and Aimsweb, and curricula such as Reading Mastery, Wonders, Read Naturally, and NumberWorlds. They plan to expand staffing for MTSS, upgrade the K-6 reading program to the 2020 edition of Wonders, and offer after-school and summer school programs using ExactPath. Other allowable uses include mental health supports ($17,700), transportation ($65,000), professional development ($10,500), cleaning supplies ($7,500), educational technology ($30,000), high-quality instructional materials ($20,000), air quality improvements ($10,929), school facility repairs ($30,753), supplemental learning ($3,600), additional pay ($50,400), added needs of at-risk populations ($12,000), ensure preparedness ($6,000), and other activities ($120,198). The total estimated budget is $384,580, with $116,200 allocated to learning loss (20% set-aside).
