Description

Hidalgo County is soliciting proposals for custom-built, high-strength archival shelving and book cabinets to replace warped and failing shelves in its Hall of Records. The cabinets must safely support archival books weighing approximately 25–35 pounds each, with a required shelf capacity of approximately 250–400 pounds. Required features include hardwood frames, reinforced shelving, archival-safe materials, low-VOC finishes, precision joinery, and in-house finishing suitable for humidity-sensitive archival environments. The scope includes design, fabrication, delivery, and installation, along with shop drawings, a quality assurance plan, material verification, and a proposed schedule from design through installation. Respondents must demonstrate at least 10 years of continuous custom cabinetry or architectural millwork experience and provide a portfolio of at least three comparable projects completed within the past five years. The proposal must include company information, project approach, portfolio, timeline, itemized cost breakdown, insurance documentation, awards or certifications, references, warranty terms, and required county forms and confirmations. A minimum three-year workmanship warranty is required. The anticipated contract term is one year, with two additional one-year renewal options at the County’s discretion.
