Description
The University of Utah is soliciting a prime elevator contractor for the comprehensive modernization of one hydraulic passenger elevator at the Red Butte Arboretum. The base bid includes a new hydraulic power unit, controller, hydraulic piping, door operator and related door equipment, fixtures, emergency communication, lighting, electrical conduit and wiring, safety systems, pit equipment, signage, and associated mechanical and electrical work. Existing components such as the jack, car frame, platform, guide rails, buffers, hoistway entrances, and cab enclosure are to be reused or refurbished where specified. The project is turnkey: the elevator contractor is responsible for surveying existing conditions, coordinating required electrical, mechanical, and fire/life-safety subcontractors, obtaining permits, performing installation and testing, coordinating with the general contractor, providing training, manuals, diagnostic tools, spare parts, and twelve months of guarantee maintenance. The estimated construction cost is $87,500. A 5% bid bond is required with the bid; performance and payment bonds equal to 100% of the contract sum are required at contract execution. The solicitation requires electronic submission through the designated procurement portal and includes a mandatory pre-bid meeting and site visit.
