Description
The City of Iowa City is seeking a contractor to provide transmission repair, rebuilding, refreshing, and replacement services, along with engine repair, rebuilding, removal, and replacement using Cummins ReCon remanufactured engines, for its fleet of 40-foot Gillig Low Floor buses. The contractor must provide facilities capable of storing at least two buses, furnish labor, equipment, supervision, pickup and return delivery, written estimates within 24 hours, and begin approved repairs within 48 hours after receiving required materials and parts. Repairs require written City approval, and completed vehicles must generally be returned the same day or next business day after completion. All work is subject to at least a one-year warranty for defects in materials and workmanship. The initial contract term is one year, with up to four additional one-year renewals by mutual consent. Proposals are evaluated on qualifications and capabilities, pricing, company experience, customer satisfaction and references, and exceptions to the City's terms. The response requires a proposal, completed Wage Theft Affidavit, required online bid attributes, pricing, capacity information, and three references. No bid security is required; insurance is required before work begins. Responses must be submitted online through the designated electronic bidding portal.
