Description
The University of Iowa is soliciting qualifications from suppliers to assess and recommend a financial structure for University of Iowa Health Care's medical malpractice liability program. The work must evaluate applicable Iowa medical malpractice laws, the 28E agreement, historical claims experience, current policy limits, funds flow, and the structure of Iowa Medical Mutual Insurance Company in light of the health system's size and complexity. The selected supplier must recommend whether to convert the mutual insurer to a captive insurance company, dissolve it and use full self-insurance up to applicable thresholds, or continue the current governance and financial framework. The supplier must also develop a malpractice risk index for each medical and surgical specialty to support departmental premium-setting. Responses must include a detailed project proposal, three relevant client references, key personnel and single-point-of-contact information, stakeholder-engagement approach, identified issues and risks, timeline and fee structure, audited financial statements and annual reports for the prior two years, and required responses to the solicitation's compliance and contractual terms.
