Description
The Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority is soliciting bids for a cooling tower replacement project at Lehigh Valley International Airport. The project is divided into three prime contracts: general construction, mechanical construction, and electrical construction. Work includes one-for-one replacement of an existing roof-mounted cooling tower, replacement of the associated screen wall, structural repairs to the mechanical penthouse, replacement of a penthouse door and louver, and replacement of an IT-room split-system air conditioner. The mechanical scope includes the cooling tower, condenser-water piping, service platform, ladder, davits, vibration isolators, controls, and split-system air-conditioning equipment. The electrical scope includes disconnection and reconnection of HVAC equipment, new variable-frequency drives and feeders, electrical support for the cooling tower, and modification and recertification of the existing lightning-protection system. The general construction scope includes demolition, structural steel, masonry, doors, louvers, roofing-related work, and finishes. The project is at an active airport and requires coordination with airport operations, prevailing-wage compliance, a 50% requested self-performance goal, qualification statements, financial information, project-specific experience, and bid security.
