Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Boulder, Colorado, requires a contractor to supply liquid helium (LHe) in 100-liter and 250-liter contractor-owned dewars on an as-needed basis. LHe is essential for various cryogenic applications at NIST, including standards development and research projects, due to its unique low boiling point and non-reactive properties. The supply is limited, and LHe must be used within one to two weeks of delivery to minimize loss. The contractor will be responsible for providing the necessary personnel, materials, equipment, services, and facilities for LHe delivery and empty dewar pickup at NIST's central drop-off sites located at 325 Broadway, Boulder, CO. Specific delivery areas within the NIST campus are designated. The period of performance is anticipated to be 12 months, from October 1st to September 30th. Key requirements include a minimum LHe purity of 99.998%, a flat monthly fee for unlimited dewar usage, and adherence to strict dewar maintenance and delivery standards. Specialty dewars, such as wide-mouth or purged 100-liter dewars, may also be required on occasion. The contractor must also have the capability to provide emergency deliveries.
