Description
The USDA Forest Service is conducting market research to identify capable sources for manufacturing and supplying bear-proof storage boxes/containers and heavy-duty outdoor picnic tables. The agency requires solutions that meet strict durability standards for park and recreational environments, including IGBC-certified bear-proof boxes that require on-site excavation, concrete pad pouring, and secure anchoring. Picnic tables must feature pre-cast concrete bases with plank tops (wood, recycled plastic, or aluminum) and be weather-resistant and vandal-resistant. Vendors must demonstrate capability in logistics planning and transportation of heavy pre-cast components to remote campground locations with potentially restricted access, including performing concrete pours in backcountry settings. The Forest Service is seeking feedback on the most appropriate NAICS codes (337126 or 332439), whether the requirement is primarily a supply or construction contract, and if installation services are performed in-house or subcontracted. Vendors are also requested to provide a rough order of magnitude for pricing, lead times, and details on their remote site logistics and assembly capabilities.
