Description
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) Denver Microbeam Laboratory requires a new digital microscope, specifically the Keyence Corporation of America VHX-X1 Series or an equivalent product. This instrument is critical for various scientific analyses, including geochronology and economic geology, supporting downstream analyses such as LA-ICP-MS, SHRIMP, MC-ICP-MS, and fluid inclusion work. The increased demand and advancements in software necessitate additional capacity to achieve higher resolution for detailed materials and sample analysis. The new microscope will support localized research, data collection, and dissemination to collaborators and stakeholders. The salient characteristics for the digital microscope include a minimum 12-megapixel CMOS image sensor with 4K resolution, a motorized stage with extensive travel in X and Y directions, and Z-axis movement. It must support various lighting modes, have integrated 2D and 3D measurement capabilities, XY image stitching with high accuracy, and Z-stack focus imaging. The system should also feature advanced lighting and digital correction features, grain sizing quantification, and image capture in JPG and TIF formats. Compatibility with existing Keyence accessories is also required. A minimum one-year manufacturer's warranty is mandated, and all shipping costs are to be included, with delivery required within 180 days after receipt of order.
