Description
The Alutiiq Tribe of Old Harbor and Old Harbor Native Corporation, with project development support from the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, are conducting an industry engagement event and site tour for the future Old Harbor Hydroelectric Project. The event is intended for prime contractors, subcontractors, and construction partners to review project information, visit proposed project areas, assess site conditions and logistics, meet community and local business representatives, and evaluate lodging, transportation, equipment rental, and workforce resources. The project is expected to use a design-bid-build construction delivery method, with an estimated construction value of approximately $25 million to $30 million. The future construction solicitation is anticipated in summer 2027, subject to financing. The industry engagement event is scheduled for October 5–8, 2026, and includes plan review, a virtual question-and-answer session, site visits to the proposed intake, penstock corridor, powerhouse, access road, and electrical interconnection areas, and field travel involving ATV use and strenuous hiking.
