Description
The U.S. Geological Survey is seeking an eligible participating partner in the Californian Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit to conduct research developing an enhanced gene expression panel capable of differentiating thermal, pathogen, nutritional, and toxic stressors affecting population and ecosystem health. The project includes field experiments involving multiple species, RNA isolation from experimental and control organisms, RNA sequencing or quantitative PCR analysis, and identification of differentiated target genes. The recipient must submit a five-year proposal covering one base year and four additional budget years, with approximately $35,000 in total estimated funding and $7,000 anticipated for the first budget year. The proposal must include a technical narrative, budget narrative, data management plan, project abstract summary, biographical sketches, current and pending support disclosures, and required Grants.gov application materials. Deliverables include research products, digital data, analyses, reports, and dissemination of results consistent with USGS data-management and scientific-practice requirements.
