Description
This Notice of Funding Opportunity invites institutions and eligible organizations to establish or renew Nutrition Obesity Research Centers that support integrated nutrition and obesity research. Proposed centers must provide shared biomedical research core services, a Pilot and Feasibility Program, an Administrative Core with a required Clinical Element, and a Scientific Catalyst Program. Research cores may include services such as nutrigenomics, metabolomics, dietary or physical-activity assessment, behavioral science, clinical and interventional research, molecular biology, nutritional biochemistry, imaging, bioinformatics, and biostatistics. Applicants must demonstrate an existing, peer-reviewed nutrition and/or obesity research base with at least $3,000,000 in direct costs, at least 50% federal support for the research base, and at least two federally funded NORC members using each biomedical research core. Applications are limited to $750,000 in direct costs per year, with up to $150,000 per year for the Pilot and Feasibility Program; the total project period may not exceed five years. The program anticipates committing $3,600,000 in fiscal year 2027 to fund up to three awards. Applications must be submitted electronically through NIH ASSIST or an institutional system-to-system solution to Grants.gov, followed by tracking in eRA Commons.
