Description
The City of Covina is accepting applications for its 2027–2028 Community Development Block Grant program. Eligible activities include acquisition, construction, and rehabilitation of public facilities; demolition and clearance of deteriorated buildings; community services for low- and moderate-income households; removal of mobility barriers for elderly or disabled persons; and special economic development activities. Projects must principally serve low- or moderate-income persons, eliminate slums and blight, or address a recent and urgent health or safety need, and must support the City's community development objectives. Applicants must submit a typed application for each proposed project. Applications requesting less than $10,000 will not be considered. The preliminary planning amount is $291,792, with up to 15% available for community service programs and the remaining 85% potentially allocated to public improvements, economic development, and rehabilitation projects. The completed application is due by 5:30 p.m. on November 12, 2026. Funding recommendations are scheduled for consideration by the Finance Advisory Commission on December 9, 2026, followed by a tentative City Council public hearing on January 19, 2027.
