Description
The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is seeking one contract worker for its Office of Marine Patrol to perform entry-level technical emergency telecommunications dispatch work. Duties include operating telephone, radio, and other telecommunications equipment; maintaining radio contact with Marine Patrol officers; responding to emergency and distress calls; dispatching officers and other public-safety personnel; responding to public and agency inquiries; coordinating with public-safety personnel; and maintaining dispatch records. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, although related education and experience may be substituted on an equal basis. Compensation is $15.00–$18.00 per hour depending on experience, with a maximum schedule of 28 hours per week. The worker must complete applicable telecommunicator certification and minimum training requirements within 12 months of hire.
