The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Carolina Alumni are requesting qualifications from architect-led design teams to provide advance planning design services for the comprehensive renovation of approximately 68,750 square feet of the George Watts Hill Alumni Center and Carolina Club, plus an approximately 27,500-square-foot addition for the UNC Visitors Center and UNC Admissions Offices, known as the UNC Welcome Center. The project has a stated authority of $5.5 million for advance planning services only. The selected team must include architectural, civil/site, building-envelope, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm, fire suppression, telecommunications, structural, and cost-estimating capabilities. The scope includes coordinating with user groups and university stakeholders; developing design concepts and cost analyses for multiple options; preparing cost estimates, schedules, phasing plans, and concept renderings; complying with North Carolina building codes; and responding to State Construction Office review comments. Submittals must use the SF-330 format, include a one-page letter of interest and supplemental information, and demonstrate relevant experience, past performance, staffing, workload, design approach, cost and schedule experience, construction administration capabilities, licensing, and small-business participation. The total proposal may not exceed 55 pages, and one bound hardcopy plus one electronic PDF is required.
