Description
The Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency is soliciting proposals from qualified agricultural producers to lease and operate one or more of seven properties totaling approximately 460 acres in the Natomas Basin. The selected lessee will conduct permitted crop production and maintain associated agricultural infrastructure, including irrigation systems and water arrangements, fences and gates, farm roads, irrigation channels, fire breaks, and site access. The work also includes mowing and controlling invasive or noxious weeds, removing trash and debris, maintaining habitat-supporting agricultural conditions, and managing fallow fields through plowing, cover crops, native grasses, and mowing when applicable. Proposals must identify the property or properties proposed, demonstrate at least two years of agricultural production experience, equipment capacity, and access to a pesticide applicator, and describe the proposed crops, irrigation plan, maintenance approach, references, and insurance capability. The lease term is five years, from January 1, 2027, through December 31, 2031; recreation, hunting, agritourism, farm stands, and other commercial uses are prohibited.
