Description
The Board of Education of School District No. 36 (Surrey) is seeking expressions of interest from current registered nonprofit operators of licensed childcare to operate before- and after-school care at Lena Shaw Elementary. The program is expected to serve approximately 24 children, or the number permitted by current licensing regulations, during approximately 7:00 a.m.–8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.–6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The operator must also offer programming on professional-development and school-not-in-session days, including spring, winter, and summer breaks, and must be operational by September 2026. The operator will be responsible for staffing, licensing, marketing and registration, supplies, equipment, toys, daily tidying and light cleaning, technology, insurance, and applicable permits and fees. The program must comply with Fraser Health, City of Surrey, Surrey Fire Department, provincial and municipal requirements, and the district’s inclusion, human-rights, Indigenous-learning, and early-learning frameworks. Respondents must submit an Expression of Interest Response Form and a separate proposal addressing the organization, program and vision, program success, references, financial and operating plans, program outline, rates, parent and program handbook, and related experience. This is an information-gathering, nonbinding process and may lead to further discussions or a license agreement rather than a contract award.
