Description
The Loup Valley Childhood Initiative and Valley County Economic Development are accepting applications from current and prospective licensed childcare providers for a competitive reimbursement stipend of up to $5,000. Funding is intended to create or expand licensed childcare spots in Valley County, Nebraska, including eligible equipment, safety and educational materials, minor building modifications necessary for licensing or safety, workforce training, and certain startup costs. Salaries may not exceed 10% of the total stipend request. Applicants must be licensed or plan to become licensed, enroll or plan to enroll in Step Up To Quality within one year, and operate in Valley County. Land, buildings, construction materials and building costs, ongoing operational support, and endowments are ineligible. Recipients receive 50% upfront and 50% after proof of purchase, must provide expense accounting, remain a licensed childcare business in Valley County for at least three years, and may be required to repay funds if they do not complete licensure or close early. Applications must include the completed application, a project description, proof of licensing if currently licensed, and price quotes for requested items.
