Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Regional Office Huntington West Virginia, intends to award a sole-source, firm-fixed-price contract to Smiths Detection Inc. for a Maintenance Service Agreement associated with an X-Ray Machine manufactured by Smiths Detection Inc. This contract will have a period of performance of five years, consisting of a base period and four option years. This action is being conducted under RFO Part 12, with the statutory authority permitting the restriction to competition being RFO 12.102(a). The restriction is based on the fact that only the manufacturer, Smiths Detection Inc., possesses the proprietary diagnostic tools/software and trained personnel necessary to maintain the X-Ray Machine.
