Description
The California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) is seeking qualified vendors to contract for Unarmed Security Guard Services at the Veterans Home of California-Lancaster, located at 45221 30th Street West, Lancaster, CA 93536. The contractor will be responsible for providing all labor, supervision, wages, employee benefits, payroll taxes, transportation, uniforms, equipment, licenses, permits, Live Scan clearances, and training necessary to perform these services. Services will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including weekends and State holidays. Security guards must possess a high school diploma or GED, be able to speak, read, and write English, have good vision and hearing, pass a pre-employment drug screen and Live Scan FBI/DOJ clearance, and have a negative TB test. They must also maintain a clean appearance, wear a clean uniform, and adhere to strict standards of conduct, including not carrying firearms or other weapons, not using state telephones for personal business, and not being under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol. The contractor must also comply with Government Code Section 19134 regarding employee compensation and benefits, ensuring that employees receive wages and benefits at 85% of the State's cost for similar duties.
