Description
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), on behalf of the National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR), is conducting a market survey to identify small business sources capable of providing an Agilent Cytation 9 Cell Imaging Multimode Reader, or an equivalent instrument. This system is intended to combine multimode detection with advanced high-content imaging, supporting studies with modern in vitro systems like 3D spheroids and organoids, and will be used for screening applications and the development of New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) to improve the predictive value of in vitro toxicity data for regulatory decisions. The required instrument must offer automated, high-throughput image acquisition and analysis, configurable upright and inverted microscopy, and multimode microplate reading within a single platform. It should be compatible with various microplates, slides, and counting chambers, and support multiple imaging modes including fluorescence, brightfield, phase contrast, and high-contrast brightfield. The system must also be capable of performing fluorescence, absorbance, and luminescence microplate readings, with the potential to integrate with an automated incubator for live-cell imaging workflows. Key imaging functions include end-point, time-lapse, Z-stack, and montage imaging, with a six-objective capacity and multiple color channels for the inverted microscope. The multimode plate reading function should support various detection modes and compatibility with low-volume microplates. The system must be a new, turn-key solution including all necessary hardware, software, and accessories, with installation, training, and a minimum one-year warranty provided by factory-certified personnel. The FDA is offering a non-functional Agilent BioTek Cytation 3 System (Serial No. 160920B) as a trade-in, which requires the contractor to have an agreement with Agilent Technologies and provide a minimum 43.1% pricing concession.
