Description
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is conducting market research to identify potential contractors for a preventive maintenance and repair service agreement for specialized scientific equipment at the National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR). The requirement includes service for two Zeiss Merlin Field Emission Gun Scanning Electron Microscopes (FEG SEMs) and one Gatan 3View serial block face sectioning device, which is paired with one of the SEMs. The goal is to ensure the operational reliability of these instruments for ongoing research. The service agreement will cover comprehensive, all-inclusive preventive maintenance and repair services. Key requirements include timely on-site corrective/remedial repair visits within 3-5 business days, repairs completed within 30 calendar days (with potential extensions), and all maintenance performed by formally trained and OEM-certified technicians using OEM parts. The contract will also include one Field Emission Gun (FEG) tip change-out per SEM per contract year, access to a manufacturer's technical call center, and unlimited software/firmware updates. Specifics vary slightly between the two SEMs and the Gatan 3View, particularly regarding repair timelines and parts coverage in later option years. The contract type is Firm Fixed Price.
